The objective of this Conservation Project is to introduce volunteers to the field of conservation, and assist local wilderness conservation efforts in Namibia.
Volunteers will be taught basic wilderness and research skills, and then assist the ranger with ongoing works. This is a fun an exciting educational conservation experience.
Volunteers will be assisting either the resident game ranger or the park management staff. After arrival and introduction to camp life and the surrounding ecology, volunteers can expect to assist with the following activities:
- Animal ID, spoor ID, tracking skills
- Tree, plant, bird & insect ID
- Calculating veld condition, species carrying capacity
- Soil sampling, burn cycles, erosion control
- Road maintenance
- Conservancy operation
- Human-animal conflict
- Anti-poaching
- Other activities as/when required
- Rest and relaxation, departure.
Activities will be led and coordinated by Caprivi Bush Experiences.
Volunteers will be awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the local communities and Caprivi Bush Experiences.
Previous knowledge or experience is not required. All that is required is a passion to learn about wildlife and nature, and be open-minded about the local cultures.
